Freda Thomas is a trailblazing Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor with a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She runs a private practice in Irving, Texas (Las Colinas), where she specializes as a Grief Recovery Specialist. Freda holds certifications in grief recovery, anger resolution, and mediation.
But Freda’s journey goes beyond her professional achievements. Despite never aspiring to be a public speaker, she has been called by a higher power to share her story. In July 2021, she received a powerful message to open up about her own struggles as a mental health therapist battling depression and enduring deep emotional pain. Freda now believes that sharing her story is the key to reaching and inspiring a generation of youth of color.
For the past two decades, Freda has dedicated herself to helping countless clients, stepping out of her comfort zone to bring comfort and healing. However, it was the devastating loss of her father to cancer and suicide that ignited a fierce passion within her. Now, Freda is on a mission to uplift and support black youth who face emotional pain and to empower survivors of suicide loss.
Freda’s journey is a testament to strength, resilience, and the power of self-discovery. She is here to show young people of color that they are not alone in their struggles and that their stories matter. Through her inspiring voice and unwavering dedication, Freda aims to ignite hope, healing, and change within her community.
